Grid Codes for wind power

 

The integration of new generation technologies such as wind or solar power into existing distribution or transmission systems may require modifications to the technical rules (Grid Codes) that are used to determine planning and connection conditions.

energynautics has a thorough understanding of grid codes world-wide and its implications for both wind projects and wind turbines. energynautics can also assess the suitability of existing Grid Codes for the connection of new generation technologies and the possible implications for the system operation. In particular, the implications for on-going stable system operation and the ability to ride through and recover from fault conditions can be investigated via simulations and its results can be implemented in modifications of existing grid codes.

Together with Ecofys (Berlin, Germany), energynautics was asked to review the international experience particularly regarding distribution grid codes relating to wind power connection and to develop a grid code for the connection of wind farms to the distribution network in Croatia.
